#5 Mizzou Takes Down #11 Iowa State 23-15 in Dual Finale
In a battle of Big 12 hammers, #5 Missouri beat #11 Iowa State 23-15, with bonus points being the deciding factor as the teams split 5-5 in matches. The biggest swing in the dual came at 133 and 141, where John Erneste and Jaydin Eierman were able to tech and pin their nationally ranked opponents in the biggest swing bouts of the dual. The Cyclone team will definitely want some of those wins back come conferences, but the Missouri team will finish the season with strong hopes of a podium placement in March.

After ISU opened with two decision wins, John Erneste took the mat against freshman phenom and point scorer Austin Gomez, but it was all Erneste in this one. He put him to his back in each period, on his way to a technical fall, a rare dominant win over a top-10 calibur opponent. Jaydin Eierman, who is an electric competitor for the Tigers, found his way to another clutch pinfall, his fifth straigh win by fall. With a #4 ranking and the ability to get off the mat quickly, Eierman is going to factor heavily into the postseason's discourse at 141.
ISU scored their biggest win of the dual at 149, with Jarrett Degan upsetting Brock Mauller and his 15-match winning streak, riding high off a handful of takedowns and mat control on his way to a decision. Another upset at 184 saw Sammy Colbray take a tight decision over Dylan Wisman, and former Missouri Tiger Willie Miklus finished off the night with a 4-0 decision over Wyatt Koelling in what must have been a difficult day as a competitor. Still, both teams competed great and have plenty to look forward to as the season ramps into the final stretch.
