4-Time PA State Champ Gavin Teasdale to Wrestle for University of Iowa

After a tumultuous season at Penn State, 4-time Pennsylvania state champion Gavin Teasdale has announced he will be competing for the Iowa Hawkeyes next season, projecting as a 133-141 for legendary program. After a 162-2 high school career, Teasdale has had trouble finding his footing at the NCAA level but now he looks to be settled in with familiar faces in the black and yellow. The Hawkeye program typically boasts depth in the lower weights, and returns All-American talent, but Teasdale may force them to shuffle things around in search of an even stronger lineup.

Teasdale and his then-teammate Spencer Lee committed together to the University of Iowa in 2016, before Teasdale broke that commitment to instead sign with Penn State in 2017. He projected as a 125 for the Nittany Lions, but struggled getting into the lineup (with keeping down to weight among his struggles). He disenrolled in January, and has now announced plans to enroll and compete at Iowa.

The Iowa Hawkeyes return a strong lower-weight roster, highlighted by two-time NCAA Champion Spencer Lee at 125 and All-American controversy machine Austin DeSanto at 133. With a rotating cast at 141 throughout the year, Max Murin took the post-season role and made the Round of 12, but may have trouble cracking the lineup next season. With some combination of Lee, DeSanto, Teasdale, Murin, Jason Renteria, and Vince Turk, the Hawkeyes should be among the strongest lower trio in the country.
