Nick Gwiazdowski Biography
Nickolos Edward Gwiazdowski was born on December 30, 1992, in Duanesburg, New York, United States of America, where he grew up.
It was during his time at Duanesburg High School that Nick's career started being noticed after his two state championship wins and incredible unbeaten senior season (50-0). A year when no one managed to go an entire match with the young New York native.
Although destined for greater planes, Gwiazdowski opted to sign with the local Binghamton University. There he was able to achieve All American status as a true freshman.
Whereas many would have been contempt with the achievement as a competitor from a more modest wrestling program, the experience had the reverse effect on Gwiazdowski who then realized he needed to transfer to a bigger, more, challenging training room if he was to aim for a national title.
With his sights on the NCAA prize, Nick decided to move to the North Carolina State University. It was said at the time that the decision to move to NC was partly owed to the team's hiring of coach Pat Popolizio, someone Gwiazdowski had worked with at Binghamton earlier.
Forced to redshirt during his first year with NC's Wolfpack, Nick quietly waited for his time. When he did join the squad, officially, he proved all the hype was more than merited, with 2 national titles in the years that followed, and a runner-up placement in 2016. One of North Carolina's most fruitful wrestlers of all time in the NCAA.
Always striving for more, once he finished college, Nick Gwiazdowski's career was far from over as the powerful heavyweight went on to have a very successful international career, with medals at the World, Pan American Championships, Pan American Games, and more.
