Jordan Burroughs beats Ben Askren in Battle of Olympians
Media Battle Sets Tone For Dominating Performance
In a matchup of popular Olympians, Jordan Burroughs beat Ben Askren in the main event of the 2019 Beat The Streets event, held in Madison Square Garden's Hulu Theater. Jordan won 11-0, securing a tech fall in the second round. Burroughs used effective takedowns and a noticable speed advantage to great effect against Ben, who had trouble securing controlling tie ups against Jordan for much of the match. Burroughs now looks ahead to the Final X matchup that awaits him, as a returning world bronze medalist. Beat The Streets is a great organization that aims to grow wrestling in high risk youth areas, to help those communities.

Jordan came out firing quickly, scoring with a tone-setting push out where he ran a single leg off the mat, forcing Ben into the crowd for a caution and a point. He followed that up with an emphatic double leg for four points, driving Ben to the mat with a lot of force. Ben continued working for control ties, but couldn't get anything with the busy hands of JB. Another double leg followed, and exposure brought it to within a point of a tech fall.
Askren worked hard in his stance to keep Burroughs at bay for a minute, bringing the match to the second period, but couldn't convert anything after Jordan scored on a low double early in the next period for the victory. After the match, the two men made sure to give credit to their opponents and to the organization for their hard work.
